TLC - Teach our children, Learn to give, Care about others - started with a seemingly simple, generous act by one boy. To celebrate his 10th birthday, this giving child accepted school supplies in lieu of gifts. All the school supplies were donated to a few families in need through the Duxbury Interfaith Council’s Outreach Services. The success of this heartfelt deed encouraged a group of four children to take it a step further. That’s when they came up with the TLC backpack project.
We will begin to accept donations for school year 2023-2024 in the summer of 2022.
There are three ways to help the TLC Backpack Program:
1. Monetary Donations - Please make checks payable to: Duxbury Interfaith Council with TLC marked in memo and mail to PO Box 1161, Duxbury, MA 02331. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
2. School Supply Donations (Please note we only accept NEW supplies)
Donate assembled backpacks by grade (see attached document below) or supplies below:
Binders (1”, 1.5’-2”, and 3”)
Binder dividers (5/pk tabbed)
Calculator - basic
Calculator - TI-84
Composition notebooks
Composition graph notebooks
Crayons
Ear buds
Erasers (2 pk large rectangle)
Expo thin dry erase markers (4 pk)
Glue Sticks - Elmers brand
Highlighters (1-2/pk and 3-5/pk)
Index Cards
Markers - Crayola, non-toxic
Markers - Crayola, fine line (8-10/pk)
Markers - Sharpies, black (2-4/pk)
Paper - Loose leaf paper (college ruled)

3. Volunteer
* Transporting: We need 3-4 volunteers to transport newly purchased supplies. These volunteers must have a driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
* Sorting and Packing: We need 4-6 volunteers (must be at least 12 years of age) to sort and pack backpacks. Depending on the number of bags, this will take about 3-4 hours.
